Overview

The Corinth Canal is a narrow, man-made waterway that cuts through the Isthmus of Corinth, connecting the Aegean and Ionian Seas. Carved through steep limestone cliffs, the canal is about 6.4 km (4 miles) long and only 21 meters wide, making it too narrow for modern cargo ships but a stunning sight to behold.

Completed in 1893, it was a dream of ancient rulers, including Nero, but only realized in modern times. Today, it’s a popular stop for travelers en route to the Peloponnese, offering dramatic views from the bridges above—and even bungee jumping for thrill-seekers!

Unforgettable Experience at the Corinth Canal!

Our tour of the Corinth Canal was absolutely incredible! The drive to the canal was scenic, and the moment we arrived, the view was breathtaking. Standing above the narrow, turquoise waters and looking down at the steep cliffs was a real wow moment. The guide shared fascinating historical insights about the canal’s construction and its significance throughout history, including how ancient rulers like Nero dreamed of creating it.
